A Season of Warmth and Purpose: Waldorf’s Winter Clothing Drive Concludes with Exceptional Impact
As the Winter Clothing Drive comes to a close, we are proud to share the remarkable success of this year’s community-wide effort. What began on November 1 as an invitation to give grew into one of the most impactful drives our school has ever hosted. Our collection boxes overflowed with a tremendous volume of winter clothing, and the quality of donated items—from nearly-new jackets and coats to beautiful blankets, shoes, hats, gloves, and scarves—was a powerful testament to the generosity of our Waldorf families…with everything going to help support Jordan’s national Charity Clothing Bank.
Even more inspiring was the spirit behind the drive. This effort was not simply about filling boxes; it was about living our mission and putting our Waldorf values into meaningful action. As our School Vision affirms, we seek to prepare students “to meet the future with compassion, a will to practical action, creative independent thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.” The Winter Clothing Drive allowed this vision to take tangible form.
Student Leadership at the Heart of the Drive
This year’s drive was organized and administered by the Waldorf Student Council, whose leadership transformed the initiative into a meaningful learning experience for the entire school. Students took responsibility for planning, promoting, collecting, and managing logistics. They discovered firsthand how purposeful action can ripple outward into the broader community.
Throughout the campaign, we were honored to welcome staff from the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) to campus on multiple occasions. Their visits inspired students with real stories of humanitarian service and offered practical mentorship on how to run an effective collection effort.
One JHCO representative noted during a session: “Your students are organized, thoughtful, and very sincere in the way they approach this work. It is rare to see such commitment at this age.”
For our students, these interactions brought depth and meaning to the drive. They were not simply packing items into sacks—they were learning how professional humanitarian work unfolds, and how collective kindness becomes real support for families across the country.

Collaboration in Action
Alongside JHCO staff, students helped sort, sack, tally, and prepare donations for distribution. This hands-on work embodied one of our most cherished Core Beliefs, which reminds us that “schools should awaken social responsibility, community service, and a will to practical action.”
The partnership also demonstrated for students what effective collaboration looks and feels like. Working shoulder-to-shoulder with experienced JHCO team members, they saw how compassion, organization, and teamwork come together to serve a meaningful purpose.
As the final tally of items was completed, another JHCO staff member shared a reflection that deeply moved our team: “We do clothing collections all over the country, but the Waldorf drive stood out. The quality of the items, the care behind the donations, and the students’ sense of responsibility were truly exceptional.”
Their words affirm what we see every day: that Waldorf students are not only capable learners but compassionate human beings who are eager to bring goodness into the world.
A Drive That Reflects Who We Are
The Winter Clothing Drive was more than a seasonal campaign. It was a living expression of what it means to educate the whole human being. In the spirit of our Waldorf’s Mission, we strive to cultivate “self-directed young adults dedicated to the pursuit of ongoing learning and eager to contribute positively to the global society of the 21st century.” This drive allowed our students to grow into that mission through action.
Families contributed not only warm clothing but toys, linens, blankets, towels, and other household items. Each donation reflected care, generosity, and a shared belief that the human spirit can invoke positive change—a belief at the very heart of Waldorf education.
Most importantly, the drive showed our students that leadership is not symbolic. It is something they practice, embody, and refine through experiences like this one. They saw that compassion becomes powerful when it moves from intention to action, when hands are busy, hearts are open, and learning becomes life.
With Gratitude to Our Community
To every family who contributed: thank you for your generosity, trust, and partnership. Your donations will bring warmth and comfort to families across Jordan, and the kindness behind each contribution will be felt long after winter ends.
To the Student Council and all student volunteers: your leadership and commitment embodied the best of our school. You showed what it means to serve with dedication, creativity, humility, and heart.
And to our partners at JHCO: thank you for your mentorship, professionalism, and genuine care. Our students are stronger for having learned alongside you.
As this year’s Winter Clothing Drive concludes, we celebrate not only the impressive quantity and quality of contributions, but also the growth, purpose, and humanity that flourished throughout the process. This drive was a tangible manifestation of the education we believe in, and of the kind of world our students are preparing to build.
