Eight seasons, one hundred twenty-eight episodes, five thousand five hundred and four minutes—that is every minute of Adrian Monk’s series. Since 2009, the attentive detective has been solving cases left and right, in addition to earning the reputation of San Francisco’s best detective. In the show, he is a consultant, not an official detective, for reasons I will discuss. The mix of murder and terror with enthusiasm and comedy created three Oscars, giving many actors and many great reviews for the show.
The main character Adrian Monk, performed by Tony Shalhoub, is a very weird man. His attention to detail is incredible, and his brain works incredibly. Furthermore, his photographic memory never dies. No one is perfect, especially Adrian. He fears heights, germs, milk, crowds, small spaces, shaking hands, and the dark. He has severe OCD; these problems led to his suspension from the department. Seven years ago, his wife was murdered, and he never figured out who killed her. All his suffering led to problems, which is why he needed a nurse. Without a nurse, Monk cannot operate.
His friends are few but good friends. Captain Stottlemeyer, the head of his police department, is a detective who always hires Adrian as a consultant. They met when Adrian first started his job as a police officer eight years ago. Lieutenant Randy, the Captain’s right hand, is a very funny character, and he appreciates Monk.
In conclusion, Adrian Monk is a great show on Netflix and is something that I still watch today. All the details the producers decided to put into the show blew me away. It is not all the producers’ work; the actors play their roles perfectly. Mr. Monk is a must-watch today and should not be overlooked. Hopefully, more series like this are going to be made.
