What if Music Never Existed?

For many people in the world, listening to music is essential and a passion, whether it’s while studying, showering, or eating. Music has a huge effect on our lives, and this effect is undeniable. Some people can’t go a day without listening to music and can’t even go anywhere without it. Music is something almost everyone needs, but what would happen if it never existed? Indeed, people on Earth might be very depressed, sad, and unproductive.

Firstly, if music never existed, the whole world would be vacant and sad. Without music, people may be extremely bored and unhappy. “The world would be a very quiet place. Our life without melodies and harmony would be totally empty. Listening to and playing different tunes help us to remove stress, relax, and it can also help motivate us in trying times” (brainly.ph). What this means is that the world would be so lifeless and dull without music.

In addition, if music never existed, our health and well-being would significantly decline adding to the current sadness in the world. People would be much more depressed and stressed with nothing to really relax them. A study from Harvard has shown that “relaxing music may lower blood pressure and heart rate after physical exertion” (bbc.com). This demonstrates how music is very helpful—even for basic needs in our lives.

Lastly, if music never existed, it may make many humans weak and unproductive. Numerous studies indicated that music can be used to get through a workout or even do things that we don’t want to do. According to Pfizer, one of the world’s premier biopharmaceutical companies, “We rely on music to help us power through workouts and tackle tasks we’d rather ignore, and we manipulate our moods with melodies.” This means that music is vital for people to be productive in their lives. Sometimes, when my mother, for instance, is doing anything, she always has her headphones on with music playing.

In conclusion, if music never existed, people would be very sad, empty, and unproductive. We should appreciate every single song we listen to, whether it’s good or bad, because we simply cannot live without it.
